ANTI-SEXUAL HARASSMENT POLICY GUIDELINES : 5.1.5

As per the guidelines of the UGC, NAAC and the Supreme Court of India, Miri Jiory College established an Anti-Sexual Harassment Cell (ASHC) which is also known as Internal Complaint Committee (ICC) to provide and maintain a healthy and pleasant atmosphere among the students and the Staff of the college. Vishakha guidelines are followed in constituting the Internal Complaint Committee (ICC). The policy guidelines and norms of the committee are well developed and it leaves no room for tolerance towards sexual harassment of any kind. The Cell takes measures to curb gender discrimination and gender-based violence and promote gender equality by organising awareness programmes and campaigns.

GUIDELINES :

Internal Complaint Committee/Composition of Anti-Sexual Harassment Cell :

(1) The Principal shall be the head and Chairperson of the Committee.

(2) The Committee shall include the IQAC Co-ordinator as Convenor of the Cell.

(3) The Vice-Principal shall be the Secretary and there shall be an Assistant Secretary of the committee.

(4) The Committee shall have one senior male faculty, three women faculty, Secretary, Girls’ Common Room, MJCSU and three nominated girl class representatives as members.

(5) The committee shall include at least three parents of female students of the college.

OBJECTIVES :

The objectives of the committee are :

(1) Prevent discrimination and sexual harassment against women, by promoting gender amity among students and employees.

(2) To ensure a harassment-free environment for all those who are studying or working in the institution.

(3) To address any harassment Complaint.

(4) To incorporate hygiene habits and ensure a healthy atmosphere in and around the college.

(5) To ensure overall wellbeing of students and staff of the college.

(6) To organize gender sensitization awareness programmes.

(7) To organize gender related legal awareness programmes.
